Czech quartet to start new season

Nicholas Yonge Society’s new season starts on Friday, October 28 with a performance by the Pavel Haas String Quartet from Prague which includes the Dvorak ‘American’ String Quartet and Beethoven String Quartet in Bb, Opus 130.

They are followed on Friday, November 25 by the Zimro Trio, an exciting force on the chamber music scene, says Society spokesman Michael Marwood.

“Focussing on music for violin/viola, clarinet and piano, this electrifying trio boasts three of the UK’s premier chamber musicians Daniel Becker, piano; Neyire Ashworth, clarinet and Paul Barritt, violin/viola.Their programme includes Mozart, Stravinsky, Khachaturian and Bartók.

“One of the UK’s leading young string quartets, the Piatti Quartet starts the New Year on Friday, January 27 with quartets by Haydn, Debussy, Bartok and Smetana. The quartet is sponsored by the Countess of Munster Musical Trust.

“UK concerts have included performances at the Wigmore Hall, the Purcell Room, Royal Festival Hall, Conway Hall and St Martin in the Fields.
