Sussex Cricket League round-up: League leaders suffer second defeat

Nomads were skittled out for just 181 as they chased 212 for victory meaning Cuckfield secured a 30-run success. The loss means Nomads now only lead the way by eight points as second-placed Roffey. Roffey ensured the gap between them and the leaders was closed after they beat Brighton & Hove by seven-wickets. Elsewhere in Division 1, Horsham beat Bexhill by five wickets, Eastbourne secure a six-wicket success against Billingshurst and East Grinstead clinched a four-wicket win over Middleton. Hastings & St.Leonards Priory returned to the summit of Division 2 following a 50-run triumph over Three Bridges. Hastings were knocked off top-spot last week after they were beaten by Lindfield but a return to winning ways saw them climb back up into first place. Lindfield were pushed back into second spot after they drew with Crowhurst Park and they now trail leaders Hastings by eight points. Worthing, who sit third in the table, failed to close the gap on Lindfield after they slipped to a five-wicket loss at Ansty. Other results in Division 2 saw Ifield beat Pagham by six-wickets and St.James Montefiore overcome Findon with a two-wicket win. Bognor Regis remain unbeaten after 11 matches in Division 3 following a five wicket win against Haywards Heath. The victory means they have won ten and drawn just one in the league so far and have a 73-point gap between them and second-placed Burgess Hill. Hill were left frustrated after their clash with Crawley Eagles was abandoned due to bad light. Portslade contiuned their fine form in the league with victory over rivals Steyning. They remain in fourth after a tight two-run win and have closed the gap on Eagles in third to just 16-points. Chichester Priory park saw off Rottingdean by three-wickets, while Goring secured just their second win of the campaign after beating Glynde & Beddingham by eight-wickets. Finally in Division 4, Mayfield continue to lead the way after they drew with second-placed Crawley. The draw means Mayfield now have a 51-point lead over their nearest rivals. Slinfold are now just three points away from Crawley following their six-wicket triumph over Keymer & Hassocks. Elsewhere in Division 4, Henfield beat Stirlands by six-wickets, Rye beat Wisborough Green by 72-runs and Southwater secured a four-wicket win over Hellingly.
